Upto 2.75 inches of rain in Ahmedabad city in 12 hours; here are ward-wise details

Ahmedabad: The city of Ahmedabad witnessed light to moderate rainfall today, with some areas receiving more than 2 inches of downpour between 6 AM and 6 PM, according to data released by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
The highest rainfall in the 12-hour period ending at 6 PM was recorded in Ranip, which received 70 mm (2.76 inches) of rain. Close behind were Chandlodiya with 62 mm, Usmanpura with 54 mm, and Kalupur with 52 mm.
Other areas such as Chakudiya, Odhav, Tagore Control, Chandkheda, Vasna, Navrangpura, Motera, Science City, Gota, Jodhpur, AMC Headquarters, Duesheswar, Maninagar, Vatva, and Indrapuri all recorded over 1 inch of rainfall.
Meanwhile, Lambha, Hanspura, Kotarpur, Naroda, Memco, Bopal, Sarkhej, Kathwada, Ramol, and Nikol received only light showers of up to 10 mm.
Overall, the city’s average rainfall stood at 24.31 mm (0.95 inches) in the 12-hour period.
According to AMC’s control room, the seasonal total rainfall for Ahmedabad has reached 1,054.83 mm (41.52 inches) so far, with water levels at the Vasna Barrage being closely monitored. Three gates of the barrage have been opened by 4 feet each to manage the river water level.
Notably, two underpasses, Akhbarnagar and Usmanpura, were closed at 2 PM and reopened for traffic after 5:30 PM.
The AMC note added, “As of 4:00 PM on 20/09/2025, the water level at Vasna Barrage was recorded at 133.00 feet. An inflow of 6,055 cusecs was recorded from NMC, 675 cusecs from Santsarovar, and 4,640 cusecs from Dharoi Dam, making the total inflow into the river 11,370 cusecs. Outflow into the canal was recorded at 400 cusecs, while the outflow from Vasna Barrage into the Sabarmati River was 10,911 cusecs. A total of 3 gates of Vasna Barrage (Gates No. 25, 26, 29 – 4 feet each) have been opened.” DeshGujarat
