Ahmedabad: The North-West Zone of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Department carried out an inspection of commercial establishments and street vendors across all wards, targeting littering, public nuisance, and violations of solid waste management rules.

The drive focused on vendors selling vegetables, paan, tea, using paper cups, or prohibited plastics, and establishments not maintaining dustbins on their premises. On September 23, 2025, civic body officials inspected a total of 213 units, issuing notices to 72 establishments, seizing 5 kg of prohibited plastic, and collecting fines amounting to Rs. 72,950.

Several commercial units were sealed for violations, including:

• R.K Omelette Center, Science City Road, Gota – Littering

• Matka Khichdi, Science City Road, Gota – Use of prohibited plastic

• MMV Vadapav, Science City Road, Gota – Littering

• Prince Bhajipav, Science City Road, Gota – Littering

• Desi Stuff, Science City Road, Gota – Use of prohibited plastic

• Karnavati Snacks, Science City Road, Gota – Littering

• Jai Bhavani Fast Food, K.K. Nagar Road, Ghatlodia – Littering

• Shree Ganesh Krupa Estate, Kundalini Complex, Vastrapur Lake, Bodakdev – Littering

• Gopal Paan Parlor, outside Acropolis Mall, Thaltej – Use of prohibited plastic

The AMC has warned that strict action will continue in the coming days against establishments violating public health norms and contributing to littering on city roads, aiming to safeguard the health and hygiene of citizens.
