Nizar and Kukarmunda Talukas in Tapi District Observe Bandh

Tapi: In response to the killing of a tribal youth in Maharashtra’s Nandurbar, a bandh was observed on Tuesday in Nizar and Kukarmunda talukas of Tapi district.
On September 16, 2025, in Sindhi Colony, Nandurbar, a tribal youth, Jayeshbhai Rajubhai (Jaydada), was attacked with a knife by a man named Suryakant Marathe, leaving him critically injured. The youth later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Surat, sparking outrage in the tribal community.
In protest, on Monday, tribal youth and leaders from Nizar and Kukarmunda organized rallies and submitted petitions to the authorities demanding capital punishment for the accused. In Nizar, demonstrators gathered at the Taluka office of the Nizar Prant Adhikari, while in Kukarmunda, they approached the Mamlatdar’s office.
The bandh called by the tribal community saw closure of offices and local businesses as a mark of solidarity and demand for justice. Leaders emphasized that the punishment of the accused was crucial to ensure safety and justice for tribal communities.
