During the operation, the accused attempted to escape and attacked the officers. Three police personnel were injured in the process. Parmar fired at the police with a revolver, prompting them to return fire, which resulted in his death. Police have described the incident as an encounter and have launched a detailed investigation into the case.

25-year-old Vaibhav Manwani of Ahmedabad was killed in the attack, and his girlfriend was injured. Soon after the news of the death of the accused, Vaibhav’s parents and family members reached the encounter site.

Vaibhav’s elder aunt told the media, “Today our son has received justice. We learned that the killer of our son was encountered by the police, which is why we have come here. We thank the police for delivering justice to Vaibhav.”

Other family members of Vaibhav said, “We have received justice. God has delivered justice. That poor boy was coming back from his birthday party when he was attacked. The attack was so brutal that it broke all our hearts. We were shattered. The elimination of the criminal is the real justice. The administration was with us, and we received full support from them. We have received very good justice. We did not expect that justice would be served so quickly. We have finally received justice.”

Timeline of the Case

On the night of September 20, 2025, 25-year-old Vaibhav Manwani of Ahmedabad was celebrating his birthday at a five-star hotel on SG Highway with friends. Around 12:30 a.m., after dropping off other friends, Vaibhav drove with his 23-year-old female friend toward the Narmada Canal near Adalaj.

They parked the car on a quiet road near the canal when suddenly an unknown person opened the car door and threatened them. Vaibhav tried to defend himself but was stabbed in the upper chest. The attack was so severe that he collapsed immediately. His female friend attempted to intervene but was also attacked and injured. The assailant took their belongings, including Vaibhav’s phone, wallet, and money from the woman’s purse.

The robber attempted to flee with Vaibhav’s car, but the vehicle’s push-button start and the keys in Vaibhav’s pocket prevented it from moving far. He then returned briefly to the crime scene before fleeing on a parked bike.

The female friend later sought help, and a passing driver informed a homeguard on the road, who immediately alerted the police. Vaibhav and his friend were rushed to a hospital, where Vaibhav was declared dead.

Following the murder, Adalaj police launched a thorough investigation. CCTV footage from the canal area revealed the suspect’s face, which, when cross-checked with criminal databases, identified him as Vipul, also known as Neel Parmar.

The Gujarat ATS and Ahmedabad Crime Branch tracked Vipul using his criminal records and call data records (CDR), identifying contacts from his previous jail time and movements. On reaching a house near Kagdadi Dungar in Rajkot, Vipul broke in and stayed there. Hours later, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, led by female police inspector M.S. Gohel, located him. He was found asleep, immediately taken into custody, and brought to Ahmedabad.

Vipul was a notorious criminal with over nine cases of theft, robbery, and assault registered against him. He was also considered psychotic. During the reconstruction at Adalaj, he attempted to attack police personnel with a revolver. The police, acting in self-defense, returned fire, resulting in his death. DeshGujarat
