Surat to get Gujarat’s first elevated APMC complex

Surat: The city of Surat has got the first elevated Agriculture Market Produce Committee (APMC) complex. The complex has facilities such as dedicated passenger and goods lifts, a 100 ft long ramp for cars, two-wheelers and even heavy trucks, parking facility, canteen, washroom and more. APMC has also decided to start a free medical care clinic facility for farmers, truckers, labourers and traders. According to Sandip Desai, MLA of Choryashi and president of Surat APMC, the APMC has Rs. 3700 crore turnover and first biogas plant to generate energy from vegetable waste. The APMC in Surat attracts farmers from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab who send vegetables here.
