Gujarat govt to hold Vikas Saptah from Oct 7–15 to mark 24 years of PM Modi’s leadership

On 7th October 2001, the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, assumed charge as the 14th Chief Minister of Gujarat. “From that day, Gujarat’s uninterrupted developmental journey began, which on 7th October 2025, completes 24 successful years. To make this multifaceted story of Gujarat’s achievements and people-centric good governance reach every citizen, Vikas Saptah will be enthusiastically celebrated across the State from 7th to 15th October,” stated Spokesperson Minister Rushikesh Patel in a press conference.
The Minister said that during this week, with the participation of a total of 10 departments, about 13 themes will be covered. Each day will be observed with a specific theme. Participation from all sections of society, including youth, women, and farmers, will be ensured. Citizens will be informed and benefited through various developmental efforts across the State.
He added that during Vikas Saptah, various programs will be held across Gujarat, including taking the Bharat Vikas Pledge at the Assembly complex in the presence of the Chief Minister, Ministers, and senior officials. Simultaneous pledges will be conducted at district collector offices, government departments, and educational institutions. Through the MyGov portal, citizens will also be able to take the pledge online in large numbers. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will officially inaugurate Vikas Saptah through this event.
Youth Empowerment Program
The Spokesperson Minister said that from 7th to 15th October, an exhibition of flagship schemes will be held at the Sabarmati Riverfront, along with online quiz and essay competitions, lecture series, padayatras at key locations, and daily “Namotsav” cultural events. A podcast with cricketers Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma will be held. At the Maharaja Sayajirao University in Vadodara, a discussion involving over 1,000 students on the role of youth in achieving the vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047” will also take place. Similar programs will be held at 50 other locations across the State.
Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India)
The Spokesperson Minister stated that on 7th October, members of cooperative societies will express their gratitude to the Prime Minister through more than one crore postcards for GST reforms and benefits given to the cooperative sector.
More than one crore postcards have been prepared by the cooperative sector to thank the PM for the socio-economic benefits reaching every citizen through developmental reforms. The postcards address themes such as Atmanirbhar Bharat, Proudly Say – We Are Swadeshi, Ayushman Bharat, Financial Inclusion & DBT, Solar Rooftop Scheme, and recent GST reforms that came into effect on 22nd September.
Each year, the Postal Department prints 1.5 crore postcards, and Gujarat alone writing more than 1 crore postcards in such a short time is a remarkable accomplishment, the official statement said.
An exhibition of these postcards will also be organized on 7th October at Sabarmati Riverfront, open for public viewing.
Additionally, students from various colleges under the Higher and Technical Education Department have expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister through postcards. A total of 4.5 lakh postcards have been written, and 100 colleges/universities have organized lectures under the Swadeshi Campaign, of which 60 have already been completed. Expert speakers guided students on how adopting Swadeshi principles can help make the State and Nation prosperous and progressive, the press statement further stated.
Employment Fair on 8th October 2025
The Spokesperson Minister stated that a State-level program will be held in Gandhinagar, along with events across 33 districts. Over 50,000 youth will receive employment appointment letters, and more than 25,000 ITI students will receive provisional placement offers. Additionally, over 100 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) will be signed with industries for ITI upgradation.
Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summit, Mehsana during 9–10 October 2025
According to the Spokesperson Minister, the event will include an MSME Conclave, Entrepreneurship Support Fair, Vendor Development Program, Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet, Regional Awards, and discussions with leading entrepreneurs, business leaders, and youth on how these regions can contribute to Developed Gujarat @2047. Events will also feature startup hackathons, pitching sessions by startups, and exhibitions of entrepreneurs’ products.
State-Level Programs
On 11th October, a State-level program in Rajkot will include distribution of scheme benefits, guidance on the Panchayat Advancement Index, honoring best-performing Gram Panchayats, announcements related to the State Village Housing Board, and mass foundation-laying ceremonies for Panchayat Houses statewide.
On 15th October, during the concluding Rath Yatra ceremony, foundation-laying and inauguration of works under ₹1 crore will take place in every district, and a Vikas Rath will be organized in each district with support from the Department of Information and Broadcasting. A “Cleanliness Pledge” will also be administered in all government institutions.
The Minister also stated that during 12–13th October, the programs will include inauguration and foundation-laying of urban development projects, organization of a Swadeshi Fair (Shopping Festival), creation of public art structures using recycled materials with support from local artists across municipal corporations, and wall paintings at famous public sites.
Agriculture Development Day / Rabi Krishi Mahotsav
A statewide launch event on 14th October 2025 will feature crop seminars, farmer guidance sessions, agricultural exhibitions, livestock health fairs, and technology-based demonstration stalls promoting farming innovations for the Rabi season.
Inauguration and Foundation-laying Programs
A State-level ceremony will be held at Mahatma Mandir on 15th October 2025, where projects worth ₹3,326 crore (ranging from ₹1 crore to ₹25 crore) will be inaugurated or launched.
The Education Department will also organize hackathons, essay competitions, wall painting contests, quiz competitions, a 100-lecture series, webinars, workshops, research paper presentations, and university seminars on “Lakhpati Didi” and “Drone Didi” initiatives. Additionally, ten new Swami Vivekananda Competitive Examination Study Centres will be inaugurated.
Health Department Initiatives
During Vikas Week, the Health and Family Welfare Department will:

Identify and counsel around 1,700 high-risk pregnant women and develop micro birth plans.

Register over 10,000 beneficiaries under the Namoshree Yojana, with DBT payments of ₹7 crore.

Disburse ₹1.5 crore to over 6,000 beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana through DBT.

Distribute Ayushman Cards to 14,000 elderly beneficiaries (70+ years) under the Vay Vandana Yojana.

Inaugurate 180 TrueNAT machines for TB diagnosis with participation of local MLAs and dignitaries.

Organize CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training in 24 medical colleges.

Hold special programs on mental health on World Mental Health Day (10th October).

Establish 34 Model Community Health Centres (CHCs).

Promote health awareness through podcasts and launch an e-book highlighting the Healthy Women Empowered Family Campaign (SNSPA) initiatives.
Additionally, the Information and Broadcasting Department will release a booklet titled 24 Years of Successful and Capable Leadership and organize online quiz, photo, and reel competitions through the MyGov India portal. DeshGujarat
