Sudden Closure of Paldi Underpass Forces Detour for Commuters
October 11, 2025
Ahmedabad: Commuters in Paldi, one of the city’s busiest areas, faced severe difficulties today as the underpass was abruptly closed for drainage and sewer renovation work. The closure was implemented without any prior notice or advisory, leaving residents and regular commuters stranded.
Authorities cited ongoing renovation of the drainage and sewer system as the reason for the sudden closure. However, locals and motorists have criticized the lack of planning and coordination before shutting down such a vital route.
The unexpected closure forced drivers to take detours of 2–3 kilometers, resulting in longer travel times and increased fuel expenses. The diversion also triggered traffic congestion on alternate routes, adding to commuter frustration.
Residents have urged authorities to provide advance notice for similar repair or development work in the future, enabling commuters to plan alternative routes and avoid unnecessary inconvenience. DeshGujarat
