Gujarat Cabinet gets younger as average age comes down; Rivaba Jadeja is youngest minister

Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s newly formed cabinet is noticeably younger than the previous one, reflecting a strategic shift towards empowering the state’s next generation of leadership. The average age of ministers in the new cabinet has dropped by 5 years, from 60 years in the previous cabinet to 55 this term.
Among the new ministers, Rivaba Jadeja is the youngest at 35, while Kanubhai Desai, who has retained his cabinet rank in the reshuffled cabinet, holds the distinction of being the eldest at 74.
The cabinet features a notable youth presence, with Rivaba Jadeja, Kaushik Vekaria, Pravin Mali, and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi all being 40 or younger.
Meanwhile, other ministers below 50 years of age include Sanjaysinh Mahida (46), Swaroopji Thakor (46), Ramesh Katara (50), Jayram Gamit (50), and Manisha Vakil (50).
Among the more experienced ministers, those above 60 years of age include the Chief Minister himself (63), Rushikesh Patel, Kunvarji Bawaliya, Arjun Modhwadia, Ishwarsinh Patel, Kanti Amrutiya, Parsottam Solanki, P.C. Baranda, and Trikam Chhanga.
By comparison, the previous cabinet had an average age of 60 years, making the new lineup relatively younger. The mix of seasoned politicians and younger members is expected to provide a balance of experience and energy, bringing fresh perspectives to the state government.
