Ahmedabad: The Airport Police has booked a staffer at the cargo terminal of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city for allegedly stealing a silver bar worth ₹16.51 lakh from a shipment.
According to the complaint, a consignment of 25 silver bars each weighing 10 kg and valued at ₹16.5 lakh was dispatched from Ahmedabad Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
John Muringateri, a senior associate in cargo operations at Air India, stated that on October 11 he received an email from the Delhi team informing him that the parcel contained only 24 silver bars upon arrival. A review of CCTV footage at the Ahmedabad terminal confirmed that only 24 bars had been loaded.
Following this, a police complaint was filed, and investigators identified Kaushik Rawal, an employee at the domestic cargo terminal, as the suspect. The 35-year-old accused, a resident of Hansol, was arrested on Friday. Sardarnagar Police, which made the arrest, also recovered the missing silver bar from his possession. DeshGujarat
