Ahmedabad: Passengers flying out of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport have been urged to arrive well in advance during the Diwali festive period to avoid delays caused by the expected holiday rush. According to an advisory issued by the airport authorities, travelers should verify their domestic and international flight schedules on the respective airline websites before departure.
“We are expecting an increase in passenger traffic during the Diwali festive season.
With enhanced security measures and mandatory checks in place, passengers are advised to arrive early and plan their journey accordingly.
For flight-specific updates, please reach out to your respective airlines.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to ensure a safe and seamless travel experience this festive season,” the advisory said.
The airport, which typically handles around 38,000 passengers daily, is projected to witness a 15–20% surge in traffic during Diwali, with footfall likely to exceed 40,000, sources at Ahmedabad Airport said.
To manage the increased crowd, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has intensified security checks, which may lengthen the check-in process. As a result, passengers are strongly advised to reach the airport earlier than usual.
