Ahmedabad: A violent clash broke out last night between two groups in Majra village of Prantij taluka, leaving several injured and causing significant property damage. The dispute reportedly arose over the management of the Bhairavdas Dada temple in the village.
Sabarkantha Deputy SP Atul Patel told the media that an incident of stone pelting and arson occurred around 10:30 PM in Majra village. An FIR has been registered against approximately 110–120 people. In the incident, over 20 two-wheelers, more than 10 four-wheelers, and windows of several houses were damaged. So far, around 20 people have been detained in connection with the case, and their interrogation is ongoing. Approximately 10 people have sustained injuries.
The clash appears to have stemmed from longstanding disputes over temple management and disagreements involving the village sarpanch. Ahead of the Diwali festival, a three-day Garba event was planned near the temple, but tensions boiled over, resulting in the violent confrontation.
Jagdishbhai Patel, a member of the Majra village panchayat, said that the attack was related to the administration of the temple. Last night, after the completion of the aarti program at the Bhairavdas Dada temple, a clash broke out between the groups. Aarti and Garba are traditionally held at the temple during the Diwali festival. The mob pelted stones and damaged vehicles and houses. The clash reportedly arose from an old enmity involving the temple and the sarpanch.
Following the incident, senior police officials, including the SP and Dy.SP, rushed to the scene. A large police contingent has been deployed in the village to prevent further unrest. Both groups are under investigation, and legal action is underway. DeshGujarat
