Gujarat police arrests two from Delhi in nationwide jungle safari permit scam

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat CID-Crime Police has apprehended two more individuals in connection with a nationwide scam involving the artificial creation of shortages of jungle safari permits across several states. The suspects allegedly made bulk bookings of permits online and sold them at inflated prices on the black market.

The CID-Crime arrested Ajaykumar Chaudhary and Arvind Upadhyay from Delhi and brought them to Gujarat. This arrest comes after the earlier detention of three people from Ahmedabad and Sasan Gir in the same case.

The probe revealed that the duo, using fake IDs, had bulk-booked online permits for Gir Jungle Safari (Gujarat), Ranthambore National Park (Rajasthan), Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (Maharashtra), Jim Corbett National Park (Uttarakhand), Kaziranga (Assam), and Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (Madhya Pradesh), creating a shortage of permits for genuine tourists.

Investigators also found that the duo, originally hailing from Bihar, had set up a fake website resembling the official portal to trap unsuspecting visitors and sell illegally acquired permits. So far, they are believed to have sold nearly 12,000 Gir Jungle Safari permits, with around 8,600 payment confirmation emails recovered from their computer systems. DeshGujarat
