Digitally signed Birth, Death certificates now valid for all official procedures in Gujarat
October 28, 2025
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has directed all government, semi-government, and other offices in Gujarat to mandatorily accept digitally signed birth and death certificates as valid proof for all kinds of official procedures. This directive has been issued by the Department of Health, Medical Services, and Medical Education.
According to the circular, the birth and death certificates generated through the Central Government’s Civil Registration System (CRS) Portal carry the digital signature of the registrar or sub-registrar responsible for the registration. These certificates are automatically emailed to citizens and can also be obtained directly from the registrar’s office if required.
Earlier, birth and death registrations in Gujarat were carried out through the E-Olakh application operated by the state’s Health Department. However, from September 1, 2025, all such registrations are being conducted exclusively through the CRS Portal to ensure uniformity, authenticity, and ease of verification across the country.
So now, such certificates will be accepted across all government departments. DeshGujarat
