Gujarat’s GST Revenue Rises 6% in October 2025 Compared to Last Year

Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue grew 6% year-on-year in October 2025, reflecting continued momentum in the state’s tax collection. According to data released by the Union Finance Ministry, Gujarat’s GST mop-up stood at ₹12,113 crore, compared to ₹11,407 crore in October 2024.

At the national level, GST collections rose 2% to ₹1,45,052 crore, from ₹1,42,251 crore a year ago. The ministry noted that these are provisional figures, subject to revision.

Among states and Union Territories, Karnataka (10%), Telangana (10%), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu (10%) posted the highest year-on-year growth, while Uttarakhand (-13%), Jharkhand (-15%), and Puducherry (-24%) recorded sharp declines.

Impact of Next-Gen GST Reforms on October Collections

In comparison, Gujarat had reported ₹10,969 crore in September 2025, an 8% increase over ₹10,153 crore in September 2024. Nationally, GST revenues grew 7% year-on-year in September.

This indicates a mild slowdown in GST growth at both the state and national levels from September to October, which can be attributed to the Next-Generation GST reforms involving rate slab revisions for several goods and services, effective from September 22. As several day-to-day goods have now become cheaper for the public, the revenue for the government would naturally see a decline.

Pattern of GST Growth During Diwali Over the Past Two Years

Gujarat’s GST revenue stood at ₹12,113 crore in October 2025, showing a rise of about 6% from ₹11,094 crore in October 2024, which had itself registered a strong 17% jump over ₹9,730 crore in October 2023.

Nationally, GST collections followed a similar trend, with October 2025 recording ₹1.45 lakh crore—up just around 2% from ₹1.42 lakh crore in October 2024—compared to a sharper 10.6% surge between October 2023 and October 2024.

It is evident that there has been a slowdown in the growth rate this year, despite the festive Diwali season. This suggests that the Next-Generation GST reforms may have contributed to lower revenue collection, even as markets witnessed heavy festive shopping activity. DeshGujarat
