Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited rain-affected areas of Gir Somnath and Junagadh districts on Monday afternoon to assess the situation following the recent spell of unseasonal rainfall.
He visited Kadvasan village in Gir Somnath and Panidra village in Junagadh, inspected damaged standing crops in the fields, interacted with farmers, and listened to their concerns.
Assuring full government support, Patel said, “The entire administration stands firmly with our farmers with complete sensitivity. The government is committed to ensuring that they recover from these losses at the earliest.”
According to preliminary estimates shared by the government, crop damage has been reported in over 16,000 villages across 249 talukas in the state. The survey has already been completed in about 70% of the affected regions, and the remaining areas will be covered soon. Over 4,800 teams have been deployed to ensure quick surveys so that compensation can reach farmers as early as possible.
Patel further stated that once the survey is fully completed, the state government will promptly announce a comprehensive and generous relief package for the affected farmers.
He was accompanied by Cabinet Ministers Arjun Modhwadia, Dr. Pradyumansinh Vaja, and Minister of State Kaushik Vekariya, who also visited affected areas to review the situation firsthand. DeshGujarat
