6.2 kg Marijuana seized at Ahmedabad Airport; Two passengers from Bangkok held

Ahmedabad: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Customs Department on Monday seized a total of 6.2 kg of marijuana in two separate incidents at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport. Officials said both passengers, who had arrived from Bangkok on different flights, were caught with the contraband concealed in their luggage.
In the first instance, officers recovered four packets weighing 4.18 kg, while in the second case, two packets weighing 2.03 kg were seized. Preliminary testing by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) confirmed the seized substance to be marijuana, classified as a narcotic under the NDPS Act, 1985.
Both passengers have been arrested, and further investigation is underway to identify the source of the drugs, their intended recipients, and the entire trafficking network at large. DeshGujarat
