Surat man dies from fall injury while running away from stray dog pack

Surat: In another tragic incident caused by stray dog menace, a 38-year-old man died today after sustaining fatal injuries while running from a pack of stray dogs that were chasing him.

The incident occurred on October 24 in Bhandariwad, Saiyedpura area. The victim, Ibrahim alias Ejaz Ahmed Ansari, was returning home after morning prayers when a pack of six to seven dogs rushed towards him, attempting to bite. Ibrahim ran to save his life but stumbled and fell. The fall caused severe trauma, resulting in a brain hemorrhage and paralysis of his entire body due to damage to a major nerve in his back. Ansari died today after days of treatment in the hospital. The tragic incident was captured on CCTV.

Local residents and the victim’s family are demanding strict action from the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) to control the stray dog population, referring to the animals as “terrorist dogs.”

A family member of the victim told the media, “If you look at the number of complaints on the SMC portal at Civil Hospital and SMIMER Hospital, you will find that these stray terrorist dogs are attacking everyone, from small children to adults and senior citizens, and taking lives.”
