Gujarat govt suspends 2 hospitals from PMJAY-Maa Yojana; issues notices to 2 others

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has taken strict action against private hospitals found violating norms under the PMJAY–Maa Yojana. Out of four private hospitals inspected during surprise checks, two have been suspended for non-compliance with scheme guidelines, while show-cause notices have been issued to the remaining two hospitals.

Health Minister Praful Pansheriya personally intervened late at night, issuing immediate instructions to the Health Secretary and the department to take swift action against the hospitals involved in the violations, a press note stated.

1. Deep Children’s Hospital and Neonatal Care, Godhra, Panchmahal (HOSP24T130518)

Status: Suspended

  • Criteria for PICU and NICU not met
  • Expired medicines found
  • MBBS doctor absent during inspection
  • Kiosk displaying scheme information for beneficiaries not installed
  • Infection control guidelines not followed

2. Kashima Hospital, Bharuch (HOSP24T170981)

Status: Suspended

  • PICU and NICU criteria not met
  • Infection control guidelines not followed
  • Scheme information kiosk not installed
  • Unqualified nursing staff deployed
  • Medical officer absent till noon
  • BU permission and fire NOC not available

3. Mother Children and General Hospital, Kalol, Panchmahal (HOSP24T132829)

Status: Show-cause notice issued

  • Scheme information kiosk not installed

4. Mother Children and Neonatal Care, Devgadh Baria, Dahod (HOSP24T148571)

Status: Show-cause notice issued

  • Expired medicines found in NICU
  • Hospital refused to provide CCTV footage
  • Scheme information kiosk not installed

In a statement issued late Thursday night, Health Minister Praful Pansheriya said, “The state government is committed to making health services more efficient, transparent, and people-oriented. We are determined to keep humanity at the core of the health sector. The PMJAY–Maa Yojana is a blessing for poor and needy citizens, and any malpractice or inhumane negligence under this scheme will not be tolerated.”

He further added, “Going forward, the government will continue to take the strictest action against hospitals that act against the spirit of public service in government health schemes.” DeshGujarat
