Stray dog menace in Paldi of Ahmedabad; five injured in a single day
November 21, 2025
Ahmedabad: Panic has gripped residents of the Paldi area after a series of stray dog attacks were reported near Hirabaug Crossing on November 18.
According to locals, the same dog bit five people in a single day, prompting urgent demands for intervention from municipal authorities. In one incident captured on CCTV, a man standing in the parking area of his residential complex on an Activa was attacked by the stray, leaving him injured and in need of medical treatment. Neighbours immediately rushed to help.
In another case, a laundry worker was bitten while trying to shoo away monkeys. He stated that the dog suddenly attacks from behind and that residents have repeatedly requested authorities to impound it, but no action has been taken so far.
Amit Makwana, who runs a pan shop in the area, was also among those attacked by the stray dog. He said that on November 18, as he stepped out of the shop and called out to his daughter, the dog suddenly bit his finger. After calling 108, he went to VS Hospital, where doctors allegedly refused treatment due to the absence of an orthopedic specialist. A female doctor then directed him to SVP Hospital, but treatment was again denied. After losing nearly three hours between hospitals, Makwana was finally taken to Civil Hospital, where tests were conducted late at night. Doctors informed him that if he had arrived on time with the severed part preserved in ice, his finger might have been reattached.
A child was also bitten in the attack and sustained a deep wound on the back of the shoulder.
Residents allege that the stray dog menace is not limited to Paldi but is spreading across several parts of the city. They have urged the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to take swift action to capture aggressive stray dogs and prevent further incidents. DeshGujarat
