AMC Multi-Level Parking in Prahlad Nagar Opens Two Years After Completion
December 02, 2025
Ahmedabad: The long-awaited Prahladnagar multi-level parking facility in Ahmedabad has finally opened, nearly two years after its completion in 2023. The delay was attributed to contractor negligence and management issues.
Constructed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) as part of its multi-level parking initiative, which includes the Sindhubhavan facility, the Prahladnagar project was built at an estimated cost of ₹93 crore. The eight-storey structure offers parking on the second, third, and fourth floors, accommodating a total of 174 four-wheelers, while the first and fifth to eighth floors house offices and shops.
The initial contractor, Sangam Enterprise, was held responsible for the prolonged delays and was blacklisted last month. The project contract was reassigned to Aarohi Enterprise, the same agency currently managing the Navrangpura multi-level parking facility. Following this change, the Prahladnagar parking is now operational, providing safe parking for both cars and two-wheelers.
Advanced Sensor-Based Parking System
For the first time in the city, the Prahladnagar facility features a sensor-based parking system, offering real-time updates and visual guidance for drivers:
-
Digital Displays: Each floor shows the number of available slots.
-
Visual Indicators: Red lights indicate full slots, while green lights signal availability.
-
Upper Floor Guidance: Drivers are directed to floors with free parking; currently, 31 slots remain vacant.
Comprehensive security measures, including CCTV surveillance and fire safety equipment, have also been installed to ensure user safety.
Pending Concerns
While the Prahladnagar facility is now fully functional, the status of the Sindhubhavan multi-level parking, built at a cost of ₹97 crore remains uncertain. Despite its prime location, the facility has yet to be operationalized, raising concerns over administrative delays.
