December 05, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has completed the ₹17.5 crore redevelopment of Sakri Lake in Sarkhej village, transforming the area into a major recreational and community space. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the revamped lake on December 7.
Spread across 78,858 sq. m., the project—executed in two phases—includes the development of the 34,676 sq. m. lake area along with extensive beautification and public-friendly infrastructure. The lake has been deepened and reinforced with stone masonry and a toe wall, while a compound wall and three entry gates enhance safety and accessibility.
To boost recreational appeal, AMC has built a walkway, lake ghat, and two gazebos. The site also features a landscaped garden, a children’s play area with sports facilities, a drinking water point, a main entry plaza, and separate toilets for men and women.
Given the nearby AMTS bus station, an RCC platform has been added for commuters. Two decorative fountains installed in the lake further enhance its visual charm.
The upgraded lake is expected to benefit nearly 35,000 residents of Sarkhej and surrounding areas, offering improved amenities and a refreshed urban environment. DeshGujarat
