These are 11 main railway projects taken up by Railway Ministry in Gujarat

New Delhi: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha that Gujarat has witnessed a substantial increase in railway infrastructure development, with 36 sanctioned projects covering 2,564 kilometres currently falling fully or partly within the State. Replying to a question on ongoing railway projects in Gujarat, the Minister also listed significant works underway, including new lines, gauge conversions and doubling projects across various corridors, as well as capacity expansion initiatives such as quadrupling near Gandhidham and Samakhiali. He said Gujarat remains a major stakeholder in the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, with 565 kilometres—about 37 per cent of the corridor—passing through the State, all of which has been commissioned. On the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project, he stated that land acquisition in Gujarat has been completed and construction activities, including viaducts and girder launching, are progressing rapidly.

Naliya–Jakhau Port New Line (25 km) – ₹410 crore

Miyagam–Karjan–Choranda–Malsar Gauge Conversion (37 km) – ₹450 crore

Jambusar–Kavi Gauge Conversion (26 km) – ₹318 crore

Kosamba–Umarpada Gauge Conversion (70 km) – ₹468 crore

Khijadiya–Amreli Gauge Conversion (17 km) – ₹178 crore

Gandhidham–Adipur Quadrupling (11 km) – ₹152 crore

Barejadi–Nandej (Geratpur) –Sanand Fourth Line (38 km) – ₹962 crore

Samakhiali and Gandhidham Quadrupling (53 km) – ₹1430 crore

Vishvamitri–Dabhoi Doubling including ‘Y’ connection (33 km) – ₹394 crore

Luni–Samdari–Bhildi Doubling (272 km) – ₹3086 crore

Sabarmati D Cabin–Sarkhej Doubling (21 km) – ₹323 crore

Railway Minister in his reply further said -‘Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) also passes through Gujarat. About 565 route Km of Western DFC is situated in Gujarat, which is about 37% of overall route length of Western DFC. Full project length falling in the State of Gujarat has been commissioned. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project (508 Km) is under execution with technical and financial assistance from Government of Japan. Construction works on the flagship high speed bullet train project have gathered momentum in Gujarat. Now, 100% land acquisition has been completed. Construction of viaduct for 352 Km (Foundation & Pier) section of this project falling in the State of Gujarat has been completed. Also, 329 Km Girder Casting and 309 Km Girder Launching have been completed.’ DeshGujarat
