₹2,430 crore paid to around 8 lakh farmers affected by unseasonal rains: Gujarat govt

Gandhinagar: A total of more than 7.98 lakh farmers in districts affected by unseasonal rains have received Rs. 2,430 crore in assistance, said Spokesperson Minister Jitubhai Vaghani today.

Speaking to the press after the weekly cabinet meeting, Minister Vaghani said that the state government has prepared online bills worth Rs. 3,320.89 crore to provide assistance to 11,12,585 farmers in the districts affected by heavy rains in a very short period. Out of this, assistance worth Rs. 2,430.75 crore has already been directly deposited into the bank accounts of 7,98,972 farmers.

The Minister added that to help farmers affected by the unexpected calamity of unseasonal rains, the state government had announced a historic agricultural relief package of more than Rs. 10,000 crore in record time. So far, 30,71,846 farmers have applied online for assistance, out of which 20,81,122 applications have been approved in phased action.

Specifically, a total of 2,28,376 farmers in Junagadh, Panchmahal, Kutch, Patan, and Vav-Tharad districts affected by heavy rains in August–September 2025 have applied for assistance. Out of these, 1,72,165 applications have been approved. Under this package, Rs. 311.87 crore in online bills has been prepared to provide aid to 91,589 farmers, of which Rs. 246.70 crore has been paid to 68,787 farmers so far.

On the ongoing procurement of crops at support price, Minister Vaghani said that 8,41,494.90 MT of groundnut, moong, urad, and soybean have been procured worth Rs. 6,049.15 crore under MSP. Payments of Rs. 2,376.45 crore have been made to 1,47,017 farmers to date.

The Minister added that the government continues to ensure timely assistance and smooth implementation of relief measures for farmers affected by both unseasonal rains and crop damages. DeshGujarat
