Gujarat declares 11 more developing talukas; annual grant of ₹3 crore each announced

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved the inclusion of 11 additional talukas in the list of developing talukas in Gujarat, strengthening the state government’s ongoing efforts to ensure balanced and inclusive development across all regions, an official statement said today.

With a development-oriented approach aimed at achieving uniform progress, the state follows a tradition of identifying developing talukas based on 44 socio-economic indicators of the Human Development Index (HDI). Declaring talukas with lower indicators as “developing” enables the government to implement targeted short-term and long-term development plans for their overall growth.

Under this decision, each of the newly designated developing talukas will receive an annual grant of ₹3 crore, comprising:

  • ₹2 crore under the Developing Taluka Scheme, and

  • ₹1 crore under the Our Taluka Vibrant Taluka (ATVT) – Developing Taluka Scheme.

The state government has taken into account the requirements of various regions, especially talukas where more than 50% of villages were previously part of old developing talukas and have now been reorganized under new talukas. Such talukas have now been included in the developing taluka category to ensure they continue receiving focused development support.

The 11 new developing talukas declared are:

  • Kadwal (Chhotaudepur)

  • Ukai (Tapi)

  • Govind Guru Limdi (Dahod)

  • Sukhsar (Dahod)

  • Chikda (Narmada)

  • Rah (Vav Tharad)

  • Dharnidhar (Vav Tharad)

  • Ogad (Banaskantha)

  • Hadad (Banaskantha)

  • Godhar (Mahisagar)

  • Nanapondha (Valsad)

The state government stated that this people-centric decision will accelerate the all-round development of these talukas and enable them to contribute more significantly to Gujarat’s broader development journey.
