Gujarat CM approves ₹110 crore bridge over Sabarmati River

Anand: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved the construction of a new bridge over the Sabarmati river at Rinjha village in Tarapur taluka of Anand district at an estimated cost of ₹110 crore, providing a permanent solution to a long-standing problem faced by residents of the region, an official statement said.

The decision follows representations made by residents of Rinjha, Nabhoi, Pachegam and Dugari villages, who highlighted that changes in the flow of the Sabarmati river often cut off access to the opposite bank during the monsoon season, severely affecting daily movement and connectivity.

Taking a public interest-oriented approach, the Chief Minister approved ₹110 crore to cover all related expenditures, including land acquisition, pre-construction hydraulic surveys, soil investigation and mapping. The project also includes the construction of a new 4-km approach road along the alignment, along with a two-lane bridge across the river.

Once completed, the bridge is expected to resolve the decades-old issue of seasonal disconnection caused by flooding and shifting river flow. The project will significantly improve vehicular connectivity, support agricultural activities, and enhance overall ease of living for residents of the affected villages. DeshGujarat
