Gujarat Electoral Roll Revision: Assembly-wise Data on Voter Deletions and Total Electors

Gandhinagar: Following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll with January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, the draft electoral roll for Gujarat was published on Friday, registering a total of 4.34 crore electors across the state.

The SIR exercise was conducted across Gujarat as per the directions of the Election Commission of India from October 27, 2025, and continued for nearly one and a half months. During the revision drive, enumeration forms of 4,34,70,109 voters were received and fully digitised out of a total of 5,08,43,436 registered electors in the state.

According to official district-wise data, a total of 73,73,327 names were deleted from the draft electoral roll during the revision process. The deletions include 18,07,278 deceased voters, 9,69,662 voters found untraceable or absent, 40,25,553 voters who had permanently shifted, 3,81,470 voters already enrolled elsewhere, and 1,89,364 voters removed under other categories.

District-wise figures show that Ahmedabad recorded the highest number of deletions at 14.52 lakh, followed by Surat with 12.50 lakh, Vadodara with 5.03 lakh, Rajkot with 3.35 lakh, and Bhavnagar with 2.28 lakh. In contrast, smaller districts such as Dang, Tapi, and Narmada reported comparatively lower deletions.

After the revision, Ahmedabad district now has 48.06 lakh electors, the highest in the state, followed by Surat (36.23 lakh) and Vadodara (21.85 lakh). At the lower end, Dang district has 1.90 lakh voters, while Narmada and Tapi have 4.34 lakh and 4.74 lakh electors, respectively.

Election officials said that despite extensive awareness campaigns and continuous door-to-door verification, the deleted voters or their enumeration forms could not be traced or submitted within the stipulated timeframe. The draft roll has been published for public scrutiny, and electors can submit claims and objections as per the prescribed schedule before the roll is finalised. DeshGujarat
