Mandvi Religious Conversion Racket: Another woman teacher held, 6 arrested so far

Mandvi (Surat): Police have arrested another woman teacher in connection with an alleged religious conversion racket in Mandvi town of Surat district, raising concerns over the involvement of multiple educators in the case.

The latest arrest is that of Meena Chaudhary, a teacher at Mahudi Primary School, who is accused of luring women and girls to convert to Christianity along with the alleged mastermind, Pastor Ramji Chaudhary. With her arrest, the total number of accused in the case has risen to six, including four government school teachers.

The racket came to light following a complaint by a woman who accused Dr. Ankit Chaudhary of physical exploitation on the pretext of marriage. During the course of the investigation, police uncovered a wider conversion network operating in the area. Meena Chaudhary, a resident of Bhatkhai village in Mandvi, was found to have played an active role in the alleged operations.

Police also claimed that Meena Chaudhary had formatted her mobile phone in an attempt to destroy digital evidence prior to her arrest.

Those arrested so far include Ramji Chaudhary (alleged mastermind, pastor and teacher), Gurji Chaudhary (teacher), Rakesh Vasava (teacher), Meena Chaudhary (teacher), Dr. Ankit Chaudhary (main accused), and Naveen Chaudhary.

Deputy Superintendent of Police B.K. Vanar is leading the investigation. Police officials said the probe is ongoing and indicated that more arrests could follow as further links and influential names are examined. DeshGujarat
