Ahmedabad: A major security scare gripped Gujarat today after anonymous bomb threats were sent to several judicial institutions, including the Gujarat High Court and lower courts in multiple cities across the state. Courts in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Bharuch and Anand reportedly received threats warning that they would be blown up using powerful explosives like RDX, triggering panic and a massive security response.
In Ahmedabad, the City Civil and Sessions Court received the threat via email, following which court proceedings were immediately suspended and the premises were evacuated. Judges, lawyers and litigants were safely escorted out of the building. Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) teams and dog squads rushed to the court complex and began detailed search operations.
Meanwhile, a similar threat was also reportedly received at the Gandhinagar Collector’s office. As a precaution, the entire office premises were evacuated and police cordoned off the area while teams conducted thorough checking. Gandhinagar Police were investigating the threat.
Considering the seriousness of the situation, bomb squads and dog squads were deployed at all affected locations across the state. According to police sources, simultaneous threats to multiple courts indicated the possibility of a major conspiracy. The Cyber Cell and intelligence agencies began investigations to trace the origin and sender of the messages.
Strict security checking was put in place for people entering court premises, and heavy police deployment was arranged in sensitive areas across Gujarat. Further investigation was underway. DeshGujarat
