Gandhinagar: The state-level celebrations of the 77th Republic Day, to be observed on January 26, 2026, will be held in the newly formed Vav–Tharad district of Gujarat.

On the occasion, Governor Acharya Devvrat, in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, will unfurl the national flag at 9:00 am at the helipad ground opposite the new court building in Malupur, Vav–Tharad district. The Governor will also take the salute during the ceremonial march-past parade.

As part of the state-level celebrations, various cultural programs and demonstrations by police forces will also be presented.

The decision follows the unique tradition initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat, under which state-level celebrations of national festivals are organized in different districts with public participation. In keeping with this tradition, the 77th Republic Day celebrations will be hosted by the newly constituted Vav–Tharad district.

Flag Hoisting Across the State

Republic Day celebrations will also be held at taluka headquarters across Gujarat. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi will hoist the national flag at Makarba in Ahmedabad, while ministers of the state cabinet will preside over celebrations at various district locations.

As per the list released by the General Administration Department, the following ministers will hoist the national flag at designated locations:

• • Forest and Environment Minister Arjunbhai Modhwadia – Govindguru–Limbdi, Dahod district

• • Education Minister Dr Pradyumanbhai Vaja – Himmatnagar, Sabarkantha district

• • Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ramanbhai Solanki – Thasra taluka, Kheda district
