Ahmedabad: Road repair and resurfacing work has been underway for the past 20 days on a 39-km stretch on the Vadodara-to-Ahmedabad side of National Expressway 1 (NE1), leading to slow-moving traffic and frequent congestion. During daytime hours, vehicles are allowed to pass through work zones in a single lane at reduced speeds, causing traffic snarls. Officials say the post-monsoon repairs include the removal of potholes and complete resurfacing of affected sections, and the work is expected to be completed before the next monsoon.

Motorists are advised to start their journeys 30–45 minutes earlier while using the expressway. Warning boards have been installed at all toll plazas, informing commuters about the ongoing resurfacing work and possible delays, with suggestions to take alternative routes in case of urgency. The Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway, which runs parallel to National Highway 48, is 94 km long and became operational on August 16, 2004.
