Over 6.54 lakh forms submitted for voter list inclusion till Jan 22 in Gujarat under SIR exercise

Gandhinagar: As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls is currently underway in Gujarat and other states, with 01.01.2026 as the eligibility date.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat, in a press release today, stated that citizens can submit claims and objections related to inclusion, deletion, correction, or migration of names in the electoral roll until January 30, 2026.
As of January 22, 2026, a total of 6,54,594 Forms 6 and 6A have been received for inclusion of names in the final voter list. In addition, 12,59,229 Forms 7 have been submitted seeking deletion of names from the respective Assembly constituencies, the official note stated.
Further, 5,04,835 Forms 8 have been received for corrections in voter details and for migration of electors.
Election officials will verify the authenticity of all claims and objections received during the revision process. Following verification, appropriate action will be taken for their disposal in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. DeshGujarat
