100-bed palliative cancer care centre to come up in Rajkot
January 28, 2026
Rajkot: Cancer Care Foundation, a non-profit organisation working for the welfare of cancer patients, is set to establish a Palliative Cancer Care Centre, marking a major advancement in healthcare services in the Saurashtra region.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony of the proposed “Pritiben Prabhudasbhai Parekh Palliative Cancer Care Centre” will be held on February 1 at Amreli village on Kalawad Road, on the outskirts of Rajkot.
According to the foundation, the entire Saurashtra region currently lacks a dedicated palliative care hospital for cancer patients, forcing families to seek treatment outside the region. The upcoming centre aims to bridge this critical gap by providing specialised care focused on pain relief, comfort and emotional well-being for patients with life-limiting illnesses.
The facility will begin with an initial capacity of 100 beds and is planned as a model palliative healthcare institution. All services will be provided free of cost, including pain management, psychological counselling, emotional and spiritual care, nutritional guidance, naturopathy, Ayurveda, yoga, meditation and other holistic therapies tailored to patients’ needs.
