Gujarat Police Recruitment: RFID chips, biometric checks, digital measurement ensure ‘zero error’
January 30, 2026
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Police Recruitment Board has begun the recruitment process for a total of 13,591 posts in the PSI and LRD cadres, aiming to ensure complete transparency and fairness. More than 10 lakh candidates are currently participating in physical ability tests being conducted across 15 designated cities and State Reserve Police (SRP) training centres in the state.
The physical tests for male candidates will be held at 11 grounds until March 13, 2026, while tests for women and ex-servicemen will continue at four grounds until March 6, 2026. Gujarat Police Recruitment Board Chairperson Neerja Gotru said the entire process is being carried out under the supervision of expert medical officers from the Health Department.
Gotru stated that this year’s recruitment has emerged as a “triple confluence” of complete transparency, zero error, and advanced technology. To prevent irregularities and ensure merit-based selection, the board has introduced several technology-driven measures, including mandatory biometric registration, RFID-based timing systems, and real-time monitoring through a central control room in Gandhinagar.
As part of the modern recruitment system, RFID chips are used to accurately record running times during physical tests. Candidates undergo biometric verification through fingerprint and facial recognition at every stage. CCTV surveillance covers the entire recruitment process, while digital measurement systems record height and chest details, with results displayed instantly to candidates.
An on-site Appeal Board comprising four members, including an SP-level officer and a medical officer, has also been set up at each ground to address grievances immediately. Authorities have additionally ensured adequate facilities such as drinking water, ORS, ambulances, and medical teams for candidate safety.
According to officials, between January 22 and 29, as many as 1,87,874 candidates were called for the physical tests. Of these, 1,16,075 appeared, and 50,383 candidates have cleared the examination so far.
To maintain strict supervision, a DIGP or SP-level officer has been appointed in charge of each ground, supported by more than 90 police personnel. Senior DIGP/IGP-level officers have also been assigned special responsibility for high-level monitoring of the recruitment process. DeshGujarat
