Minor girl married off: Nine including Maulvi booked in central Gujarat

Vadodara: Nine people from Panchmahal and Vadodara have been booked in connection with the child marriage of a minor girl. The case was registered by the Panchmahal Joint District Social Security Officer after receiving information about the marriage at a mosque. The wedding, involving a Muslim girl from Ghoghamba in Panchmahal, took place in May last year.
Following verification, officials confirmed that the girl was underage at the time of marriage. Based on the findings, an offence was registered at Rajgadh police station in Panchmahal on Thursday. Those booked include the minor girl’s parents, the groom, the groom’s parents, the Muslim cleric (Maulvi) who solemnised the marriage, and others who assisted in arranging the ceremony.
The bride’s family belongs to Eral village in Kalol taluka of Panchmahal district, while the groom’s family is from Asoj village in Waghodiya taluka of Vadodara district. DeshGujarat
