London-Ahmedabad Air India flight diverted to Dubai; Delhi flight from SVPI Airport cancelled

Ahmedabad: A flight from Ahmedabad to Delhi was cancelled on Wednesday after the inbound international service from London Gatwick was diverted to Dubai due to a medical emergency on board, airline officials said.

The affected domestic flight, AI424, was scheduled to depart Ahmedabad at 3.05 pm with around 250 passengers. However, the cancellation followed the non-arrival of the aircraft operating flight AI160 from London Gatwick, which was expected to land in Ahmedabad earlier in the day.

In a statement, Air India said flight AI160, operating from London Gatwick to Ahmedabad on February 4, was diverted to Dubai after a passenger required immediate medical attention. Upon landing, the passenger was disembarked and handed over to medical authorities for prompt treatment.

The airline said the aircraft could not continue to Ahmedabad due to a pre-scheduled NOTAM restricting operations at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, and the operating crew subsequently exceeded mandatory flight duty time limits. Passengers were provided assistance and re-accommodation. No other major disruptions were reported. DeshGujarat
