21-year-old held for assaulting 7-year-old boy at Ahmedabad mosque

Ahmedabad: A serious and disturbing incident has come to light from the Jamalpur area of the city, where a seven-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 21-year-old youth. The incident occurred at the local mosque under the jurisdiction of the Gaekwad Haveli police station, following which police promptly arrested the accused.
According to police, the incident took place on Friday during Jumma prayers, when the child had gone to the mosque to offer prayers. A youth identified as Nauman Sheikh allegedly lured the child to a secluded spot on the mosque terrace, where he is accused of committing an unnatural act. The child’s condition was reported to be serious after the incident, and he is currently undergoing medical treatment.
After getting information about the crime, Gaekwad Haveli police took immediate action and arrested the accused. Preliminary investigation revealed that a prior case of assault had also been registered against him. The accused is currently in police custody, and further legal procedures, including medical examination, are being carried out.
Providing details of the case, a police officer said, “Background verification shows a previous assault case registered against the accused. The family situation is reportedly disturbed, and he is said to be mentally distressed. According to the child’s statement, the accused took him to a secluded place on the pretext of teaching him how to offer namaz and then committed an unnatural act.” DeshGujarat
