Road Linking Jalgaon to Ankleshwar–Burhanpur Highway Nears Completion
February 07, 2026
Jalgaon: Transportation infrastructure in Jalgaon district is witnessing a significant upgrade with the commencement of work on the Burhanpur–Ankleshwar National Highway (NH-753B). At the same time, concreting of the connecting road linking Jalgaon city to the upcoming highway is progressing steadily, bringing long-awaited relief to motorists who have struggled with poor road conditions for several years.
The development is part of a broader push to strengthen regional connectivity, with a network of five national highways expected to take shape across the district in the near future. Among these, the Burhanpur–Ankleshwar corridor is being viewed as a milestone project for North Maharashtra and central Gujarat, as it will directly link Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh with the industrial hub of Ankleshwar in Gujarat, improving interstate movement across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
Once completed, the highway is expected to significantly reduce travel time and distance between the three states while facilitating smoother trade, transport, and passenger movement.
A key supporting route is the Kingaon road via Mamurabad, Vidgaon, and Dambhurani, which serves as an important shortcut connecting Jalgaon directly to the new highway and easing congestion within the city. The road had remained in a severely dilapidated condition for years, with large potholes, monsoon waterlogging, and dust creating persistent difficulties for commuters, including heavy vehicles, buses, and private transport.
In response, the Public Works Department and related agencies initiated phased concreting work along the Kingaon stretch several months ago. The project is now nearing completion, with a substantial portion already rebuilt in concrete, resulting in visibly smoother traffic flow.
With completion of this road, rural and semi-urban areas lacking direct national highway access are set to gain improved connectivity, while farmers will benefit from faster and more efficient transport of agricultural produce to larger markets.
Work is currently progressing rapidly on the 24-kilometre Jalgaon–Kingaon link road that connects to the Burhanpur–Ankleshwar Highway. An estimated ₹99 crore has been sanctioned for this stretch, which is being developed under the Hybrid Annuity Model. The route will also provide shorter connectivity between the Surat–Nagpur–Paradip corridor and the Burhanpur–Ankleshwar Highway, making travel from Jalgaon to Burhanpur and Ankleshwar quicker and more convenient.
With construction advancing on multiple fronts, the Burhanpur–Ankleshwar National Highway is poised to reshape the transportation landscape of North Maharashtra and accelerate the district’s economic and logistical integration with neighbouring states. DeshGujarat
