AMC proposes Glow Gardens, World Park and Bonsai Garden in Budget 2026–27
February 10, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday presented a budget of ₹18,518 crore for the financial year 2026–27, proposing a series of new green and recreational initiatives, including additional Glow Gardens, a World Park–themed garden, and a dedicated Bonsai Garden, aimed at expanding urban green spaces across the city.
Glow Gardens in East and West
AMC has earmarked ₹20 crore to develop new Glow Gardens in both the eastern and western parts of Ahmedabad. The proposal follows the popularity of the existing LED-lit Glow Garden on the western side of the Sabarmati riverfront, which features 54 illuminated elements such as animal figures, selfie points, cartoon characters, lit pathways, and decorative installations designed to boost tourism and recreation.
World Park–Themed Garden in North-West Zone
A World Park theme-based garden is planned in the North-West Zone with a budget allocation of ₹10 crore. The park will incorporate design elements inspired by gardens from different countries, offering residents a global recreational experience along with environmentally friendly green space.
Dedicated Bonsai Garden
AMC has also proposed ₹5 crore for the creation of a specialised Bonsai Garden in the North-West Zone. With nearly 300 gardens of various sizes already present in Ahmedabad, the bonsai project is expected to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal and introduce a distinctive attraction.
Music Systems in Municipal Gardens
To improve visitor experience and promote mental well-being, ₹1 crore has been allocated for installing modern music systems across all AMC gardens. The plan includes waterproof speakers, a centralised control system, regulated sound levels, and the ability to broadcast public announcements related to civic services.
Yoga Centres and Kitchen Garden Training
Further strengthening the city’s “Garden City” vision and focus on public health, AMC will spend ₹10 crore to establish yoga centres with trained instructors in around 100 gardens. The plan also includes a kitchen garden training centre and the development of a new garden in the TP-106 New Vastral area.
Ahmedabad Haat in Eastern Zone
Additionally, ₹20 crore has been proposed for constructing an Ahmedabad Haat in the eastern part of the city, similar to the facility currently being developed in the west. The initiative aims to promote entrepreneurship, home industries, and skilled artisans by providing a dedicated marketplace aligned with the vision of self-reliance and local economic growth.
Overall, the 2026–27 civic budget highlights AMC’s intent to combine urban greenery, tourism appeal, cultural activity, and citizen wellness through expanded garden infrastructure and themed recreational spaces across Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
