Group offers namaz at Ahmedabad airport; video goes viral

Ahmedabad: A video showing a group of people offering namaz in the passenger seating area of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city has surfaced on social media and is being widely circulated. The incident is reported to have taken place early in the morning, around 5:30 a.m. on February 10.

In the video, a group of around seven to eight individuals can be seen offering namaz after obtaining their boarding passes and while proceeding to board their flight. The footage was recorded by another passenger on a mobile phone and later shared online, where it quickly went viral.

The passenger, identified as Ayush Mehta, stated on social media that he had arrived at the airport at about 5:30 a.m. to catch a flight from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. After completing the security check and reaching the first floor of Terminal-1, he noticed a group offering namaz in the public area and recorded the scene on his phone.

“I asked a person after their prayer, ‘Is this legal? Can you do this?’ but they didn’t answer me. Immediately after, I went downstairs to talk to the CISF in-charge, but no one was there. Then I went to speak to the airport manager, but no one was present there either,” Mehta said.

While the video of the incident has gone viral across social media, the Ahmedabad airport management has not yet issued any official clarification. It also remains unclear whether any legal or administrative action will follow. DeshGujarat
