AMC Unseals 8 of 20 PG Accommodations in Bodakdev

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has unsealed eight properties in Bodakdev ward that were earlier sealed for unauthorised use as paying guest (PG) accommodations, after property owners submitted a written undertaking and paid administrative charges.

The action pertains to premises in Premchandnagar Society, where the civic body had initiated proceedings under Section 478 of the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations (GPMC) Act following a complaint.

Earlier Sealing Action

AMC had first issued a show-cause notice under Section 478(1) on September 15, 2025, directing the owners to submit within seven days proof of authorised construction, along with mandatory Fire NOC, Society NOC, Police NOC and documents related to parking arrangements.

As no valid documents were furnished, a subsequent notice under Section 478(2) was issued on October 30, 2025, instructing the owners to discontinue PG operations within three days. Despite this, the usage reportedly continued, leading the civic body to seal 20 properties on February 19, 2026.

Unsealed Considering Students’ Exams

Following the sealing drive, property owners approached the authorities stating that students were residing in the premises and requested time in view of ongoing examinations.

Taking the academic interests of the students into account, the AMC unsealed eight of the 20 properties after collecting administrative charges and securing a written assurance from the owners that the premises would not be used as PG accommodations in future.

The remaining sealed properties will continue to face action as per provisions of the GPMC Act, officials said. DeshGujarat
