Unseasonal Rain Likely to Continue in Gujarat; IMD Predicts Showers in 13 Districts

Ahmedabad: The unseasonal rains that hit some parts of Gujarat, including the city, are likely to continue for the next 24 hours, ending at 8:30 am tomorrow. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated rainfall in 13 districts of the state.

According to the rainfall outlook issued by the Meteorological Centre, Ahmedabad, light rain is likely at isolated places (up to 25% coverage) across parts of Kutch and several districts of Saurashtra, including Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh and Morbi.

In north Gujarat, districts such as Banaskantha and Sabarkantha are also expected to receive isolated showers. Parts of east-central Gujarat, including Aravalli and Mahisagar, may witness light rainfall as well.

In south and central Gujarat, Narmada and Tapi districts have been placed under the isolated rainfall category.

The rest of the state, including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Surat and adjoining districts, is expected to remain dry.

Notably, light showers in parts of Ahmedabad on Monday morning and afternoon caught residents off guard, though the brief spell did little to ease the prevailing heat.

The IMD said the weather activity was triggered by two trough systems one extending from northwest Uttar Pradesh to north Gujarat via central Rajasthan, and another from south Karnataka to Marathwada. As a result, north Gujarat, most districts of Saurashtra, and parts of south Gujarat received light rainfall. However, officials clarified that the precipitation was not significant. DeshGujarat
