Temperatures Soar Across Gujarat; Rajkot and Surat Record Season’s Highs

Gandhinagar: Gujarat continued to experience above-normal temperatures on Tuesday, with several cities recording a sharp rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures, according to the weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) this morning.
Across the state, maximum temperatures largely remained in the range of 32°C to 38°C. The departure from normal was significant in many regions, indicating a warming trend as February draws to a close.
Among the four major cities, Ahmedabad recorded a maximum temperature of 35.7°C, which is 3.4°C above normal, while the minimum settled at 21.8°C, a sharp 5.3°C above normal.
Vadodara reported a maximum of 35.8°C, 2.6°C above normal, and a minimum of 19.6°C, 2.5°C above normal. Morning humidity was measured at 60%, declining to 22% in the evening.
Surat witnessed one of the highest temperatures among major cities, recording a maximum of 37.6°C, which is 4.3°C above normal, while the minimum temperature was 20.7°C, 2°C above normal.
Rajkot emerged as the hottest among the key cities, with the mercury touching 37.7°C, a significant 5°C above normal. The minimum temperature stood at 20.2°C, 3°C above normal.
Elsewhere in the state, Kandla recorded 36.5°C (+5.8°C departure), Deesa 35.8°C (+4.3°C), and Naliya 34.7°C (+4°C), reflecting a widespread rise in temperatures. Coastal areas such as Dwarka remained comparatively cooler at 26.8°C, slightly below normal.
