Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to hold a road show in Sanand on February 28 during his day-long visit to his home state of Gujarat.
During the visit, Modi is set to inaugurate the Micron Technology semiconductor unit in Sanand and symbolically launch its first chip. The company is scheduled to commence commercial production of semiconductors from February 28. The project, being established at an investment of US$ 2.75 billion, is expected to achieve a production capacity of 14 million units per week once fully operational.
According to sources, the proposed road show will stretch approximately 3 kilometres from the Sanand helipad to the event venue. Enthusiasm is reportedly high among local residents ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
The semiconductor facility is being seen as a significant milestone in India’s technology and manufacturing push, drawing attention both nationally and internationally.
Micron had announced its plans to set up the Gujarat plant during the Prime Minister’s visit to the United States in July 2023.
Meanwhile, the local administration has intensified preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the road show and the inauguration programme. Review meetings have been held to coordinate security arrangements, traffic management, and public gathering logistics. DeshGujarat
