February 28, 2026
Ahmedabad: A traffic head constable sustained injuries after a speeding two-wheeler rider, whom he had signalled to halt, allegedly knocked him down near the Sanand bridge underpass on SG Road on Thursday morning.
The rider, a 24-year-old woman, has been booked for negligent driving. The injured officer, 40-year-old Jayesh Jadav, later lodged a complaint with the SG-2 traffic police.
According to the FIR, Jadav was serving as the in-charge of Interceptor-05 of the city traffic branch and was on routine checking duty with his team near the Sanand bridge underpass at around 9.30 am. The Interceptor vehicle was parked by the roadside when he asked the rider to stop. Instead, the rider, identified as Mahima Shakyavan (24), a resident of Vraj Dham Flats near Ujala Hotel in Sarkhej, allegedly accelerated towards him and rammed into him before he could move aside.
Jadav suffered a fracture in his left thumb along with injuries to his forehead and knees. Shakyavan and her pillion rider, Janvi Gangwal (25), also sustained facial injuries. All three were shifted in a 108 ambulance to a hospital near the Makarba underpass, where they underwent treatment and are reported to be stable. DeshGujarat
