AMC to Revamp 10-km Ognaj Circle – Rishi Dadhichi Bridge Road for Rs 121 Crore
March 03, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has invited e-tenders for the comprehensive development of the road stretch from Ognaj Circle to Rishi Dadhichi Bridge. The major infrastructure project aims to strengthen the city’s road network by redeveloping approximately 10.23 kilometres of arterial roads and adjoining access routes.
Modern Street Design and Infrastructure
The project, designed by HCP Design, Planning and Management Pvt. Ltd., is based on the integrated “AMC Street Design” philosophy. The scope of work includes construction of asphalt carriageways, dedicated pedestrian walkways with broom-finish surfaces, and epoxy-acrylic resin cycle tracks.
Key infrastructure components include a robust stormwater drainage network, electrical chambers, and modern street lighting with 4-metre and 8-metre poles equipped with single and double arms.
To ensure quality and uniformity, the selected contractor will be required to prepare complete mock-ups of all street elements, including paving, kerbing and street furniture, for approval by the Principal Architect and the Engineer-in-Charge before full-scale execution begins.
Landscaping and Green Initiatives
A substantial component of the project focuses on urban landscaping and green development. The plan features plantation of medium- and small-height trees, shrubs such as hibiscus and bougainvillea, hedges and ground cover species.
Importantly, the project incorporates specific “Large Tree Transplanting Guidelines” to systematically assess and manage the relocation of existing trees within the project corridor.
Traffic and Safety Measures During Construction
As the stretch is a key urban corridor, the contractor will be required to coordinate closely with the City Traffic Police to regulate vehicular movement during the construction phase.
Temporary safety barricades, “work in progress” signage and traffic diversions will be implemented to ensure the safety of workers and commuters. Additionally, any excavation carried out for utility-related work must be restored to its original condition within three days of completion to minimise disruption. DeshGujarat
