Ahmedabad: A Gujarat High Court lawyer on Tuesday lodged a police complaint against two airport security guards, accusing them of using abusive language and issuing death threats outside the domestic terminal of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI Airport).
According to the FIR, advocate Kuldeep Singh had travelled to Delhi for work and landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport around midnight. After exiting the terminal, he booked a cab and was waiting outside when the incident allegedly occurred.
In his FIR, Kuldeep stated, “At around 00:05 hours, I saw a security guard having an argument with an unknown passenger. I told the passenger that if he had any problem, he could inform the police control room. On hearing this, the security guard present there, whose nameplate read ‘Tomar’, came towards me in an aggressive manner and asked why I was telling the passenger to call the police, saying that even if the police came, nothing would happen to him.”
He further stated, “I asked him why he was speaking in such a manner and informed him that I am a lawyer. Upon this, security guard Tomar started arguing with me and began using abusive language. He said, ‘So what if you are a lawyer? Many lawyers like you have come here and left after being beaten. Leave from here, otherwise I will kill you,’ and started threatening me.”
The complaint further states that another security guard joined Tomar and allegedly repeated the threat.
Singh later approached the Airport Police Station and filed a formal complaint. Police said the matter is being examined and statements of witnesses will be recorded as part of the investigation. DeshGujarat
