RS MP Shaktisinh Gohil Seeks Direct Bhavnagar – Delhi Train

New Delhi: Congress Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil has raised a demand in Parliament for starting a direct train between Bhavnagar and Delhi, stating that passengers from the Saurashtra region are facing difficulties due to the lack of direct rail and air connectivity.

Gohil said Bhavnagar is an important division of Western Railway and one of the major cities of the Saurashtra region in Gujarat. He pointed out that the district includes the Palitana Jain pilgrimage centre, one of the most important religious destinations for the Jain community, as well as the Alang shipbreaking yard, known as Asia’s largest shipbreaking yard.

He informed the House that at present there is no direct train between Bhavnagar and Delhi. In addition, flight services from Bhavnagar Airport are not operational, causing inconvenience to passengers who have to depend on connecting trains or travel to other cities to reach the national capital.

Gohil further stated that train numbers 19201 and 19202, which operate between Bhavnagar and Ayodhya, remain idle for nearly four days a week after completing their scheduled trips. He suggested that the same rake could be utilised to run a weekly service between Delhi and Bhavnagar without requiring an additional train.

The Congress MP urged the Central Government and the Railway Ministry to consider the demand and start a direct train between Bhavnagar and Delhi to improve connectivity for passengers from the region. DeshGujarat
