Sufficient LPG Stock Available in Gujarat; 25-Day Gap Fixed Between Two Cylinder Bookings: Govt
March 12, 2026
Gandhinagar: Amid the changing situation in the Middle East, the state government has assured that sufficient stock of LPG is available in Gujarat to meet domestic requirements, and there is no need for panic buying. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said continuous monitoring is being carried out by the Central and state governments to ensure uninterrupted supply and distribution of LPG cylinders across the state.
According to the department, adequate LPG stock is available for transportation and smooth distribution, and arrangements have been made to maintain regular supply even in the current geopolitical situation. The press release also stated that Gujarat is in a relatively comfortable position, as nearly 30% of domestic gas consumption in the state is supplied through PNG pipeline connections, reducing dependence on LPG cylinders.
As a precautionary measure to ensure equitable supply, Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies have decided to maintain a minimum gap of 25 days between booking of two domestic LPG cylinders by the same customer. The decision has been taken as per the instructions of the Central Government to prevent unnecessary rush, hoarding, and pressure on supply.
The department further stated that the sale of commercial LPG cylinders is being regulated at present as part of precautionary steps. However, supply of LPG to essential services such as hospitals and educational institutions will continue as per requirement without disruption.
Authorities also warned that unauthorized storage of LPG, black marketing, use of cylinders for purposes other than permitted use, or charging more than the prescribed price are punishable offences under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and the LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000. Strict legal and criminal action will be taken against anyone found violating these provisions, the department said. DeshGujarat
