GSRTC, Other STUs Order Over 5,000 Buses from Tata Motors

Mumbai: Tata Motors on Friday announced that it has secured cumulative orders for more than 5,000 buses and bus chassis from multiple State Transport Undertakings (STUs) across the country, including Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC).

The orders were awarded through a competitive e-bidding process under the government procurement system, with deployment to be carried out in phases as per agreements with the respective STUs.

Other than GSRTC, the company has received orders from MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation), NWKRTC (North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation), TGSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation), BSRTC (Bihar State Road Transport Corporation), RSRTC (Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation), KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation), Haryana Roadways and the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU).

Tata Motors said the orders reaffirm its position as a key partner in India’s public transport and mass-mobility sector.

Speaking on the collective order win, Anand S, Vice President and Head, Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors Ltd., said,

The orders cover a wide range of passenger mobility solutions, including Tata Magna, Tata Cityride, Tata Starbus, Tata Starbus Prime, and LPO 1618, LPO 1622 and LPO 1822 bus chassis variants. These vehicles are configured for intercity, long-haul and intracity operations and are aimed at providing efficient performance, passenger comfort and lower operating costs.

Tata Motors has been a long-standing supplier of mobility solutions to State Transport Undertakings, private fleet operators and institutional customers across India. Its passenger vehicle portfolio ranges from 9-seater to 55-seater buses across multiple powertrains.
