Gujarat Sees Relief From Extreme Heat, Yet Temperatures Stay Above Normal
March 14, 2026
Ahmedabad: Gujarat got relief from the persisting heatwave-like conditions on Friday, with maximum temperatures staying below 40°C across every station. However, mercury was significantly above normal across most parts of the state, according to the weather report issued by the Indian Meteorological Department.
Several inland districts recorded temperatures close to the 40°C mark, remaining 3°C to 5°C above normal, indicating early summer-like conditions even before the official onset of the peak heat season.
Ahmedabad recorded a maximum temperature of 39.5°C, which was 4.4°C above normal, while Rajkot was the hottest in the state at 39.8°C, also 4.4°C above normal. Surat registered 39.3°C (+4.4°C), Deesa 39.0°C (+4.4°C), and Vadodara 39.2°C (+3.4°C).
The Saurashtra–Kutch region also remained warmer than usual, with Amreli at 38.9°C (+3.0°C), Bhavnagar 38.2°C (+3.8°C), and Bhuj 38.4°C (+3.5°C). Coastal locations recorded comparatively lower temperatures but still remained above normal in most cases.
Night temperatures were also higher than usual in several cities. Ahmedabad recorded a minimum of 22.9°C (+3.8°C), Gandhinagar 21.4°C (+3.3°C), and Bhavnagar 23.3°C (+3.0°C), showing warmer-than-normal nights.
Humidity levels remained moderate to high in coastal areas such as Dwarka, Porbandar, Veraval, and Diu, while inland districts saw lower evening humidity, contributing to dry and warm conditions. DeshGujarat
